William Watson
William Watson was arrested, tried, and convicted of violating Colorado Springs' city ordinance around Indecent Exposure or Behavior in 1969 for "wearing clothes belonging to the opposite sex." He was picked up by an officer with the Colorado Springs Police Department outside of Exit 21.
Watson was scheduled to appear in court on April 14, 1969, but he did not appear.
He was sentenced to pay a $100 fine and spent 10 days in jail.
This decision was met by backlash by activists like Don Collier, who wrote an open letter to Judge Robert M. Isaac and Prosecutor Hal Cook, which was published in the Colorado Springs Gazette on May 20, 1969.
