A bar that primarily tailored itself to gay men. However, it may have also welcomed lesbians, based on a letter to the editor in the June 1998 issue of New Phazes, in which Terri, Barb, and Brenda remark
"We read with much humor your article on Back Streets in the March issue. In particu lar, the line 'He plans to make Back Streets a mixed patronage bar/restaurant where every one is welcome, Gays, Lesbians, and Straight alike.' On the contrary, we were told by the bartender that Lesbians were not welcome at Back Streets. In fact, the exclusion of women in their new poster was a conscious effort so the club would in no way be associated with lesbians. It seems we were responsible for ruining the business of David's in the first place."
