Mackenzie Boyer is a poet and runner who was born in Colorado Springs. Since 2011, she was involved with the UCCS spoken word club, FREEX, and soon after, she got involved with the poetry organization Hear, Here! Through Hear, Here! and individually, she has competed and won both regional and national slam poetry competitions. [2]

My transness is not happening to me
Any more than salt happens to the sea
Any more than blood happens to the heart
